Marina Rosenthal & Rachel Wernick
Early Childhood & Special Education
Marina Rosenthal has an M.A. in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from NYU, and Rachel Wernick has an M.A. in Early Childhood Special Education from NYU.
After Rachel and Marina became mothers, they met in a parent-and-child class when their oldest children were just six months old. Searching for a program that was both educational and engaging, they realized they couldn’t find exactly what they were looking for — so they decided to create their own.
In 2007, they founded the Happy Bookworm program, combining their passion for early childhood learning with a love of literature and creative play. Together, they have been teaching parent and child classes since 2007, as well as bringing their program for 8 years to West Hills Day Camp. The Happy Bookworm classes are designed to be fun, interactive, and educational, with each session centered around children’s literature and enhanced through art projects, music, instruments, and movement activities.
